Event Details

Three of London’s biggest champions of independent music come together to present a new concert series in which emerging classical musicians take the Kansas Smitty’s stage. City Music Foundation will showcase their most exciting young players, whilst creating exclusive content for publication on the classical music streaming app Grammofy. The concerts will focus on home grown, London based talent, as these institutions come together to foster creation and experimentation in new music and sound.

This week, the Gildas Quartet launch the Living Stereo partnership. Fresh from recording the work for Champs Hill, the Gildas Quartet will be performing Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s My Day in Hell, a work inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. The quartet will pair this dark work alongside movements from Schubert’s Quartettsatz, Brahms and Haydn.

Praised for their ‘refreshing approach’ and ‘exciting precision’, the Gildas Quartet are fast establishing themselves as one of the most exciting young ensembles to emerge in recent years. The lineup features Christopher Jones (violin), Gemma Sharples (violin), Kay Stephen (viola) and Anna Menzies (cello).
