Ensemble Hesperi embark on a royal time-travel to Queen Charlotte’s 1760s

Ensemble Hesperi

2021 City Music Foundation artists Ensemble Hesperi are teaming up with soprano Rowan Pierce and fortepianist Nathaniel Mander for an immersive royal experience this summer, recreating one of Queen Charlotte’s famous musical evenings in the 1760s, with period-appropriate tea, cake, and card games!

Famed for their innovative programmes and recipients of a prestigious Continuo Foundation grant, Ensemble Hesperi will give a concert-like-no-other at 19:00 on Saturday 20th August in a remarkable Georgian house at Six, Fitzroy Square. Settle in for an informal evening of the sort Queen Charlotte loved to organise for her family and friends. A narrator will dramatise snippets from Charlotte’s own diaries, and the memoirs of her lady-in-waiting, Charlotte Papendiek.

With a programme including music from J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel and Thomas Arne, tickets are £15 and available on Eventbrite.
