This weekend (Saturday 30th April) George Fu plays a leading role in the Southbank Centre’s study day of Oliver Knussen, alongside a wide variety of composers influenced by his work, the likes of Mark-Anthony Turnage, Julian Anderson, Freya Waley-Cohen and Colin Matthews, and many more.
George will play Knussen’s work for solo piano ‘Ophelia’s last dance’ as part of this session exploring the composition and teaching of one of Britain’s finest composers, hosted by his daughter Sonya Knussen and the Southbank Centre’s Director of Music, Gillian Moore.
2020 CMF Artist, Franco-Belgian pianist Antoine Préat presents a lunchtime concert defined by intensity and air for long-standing partner of CMF, Wiltshire Music Centre. Liszt’s staggering one movement sonata inspired by Dante’s Inferno stretches pianists to the very edge of virtuosic technique, whilst Albéniz’s first book of scenes on Iberia culminates in a festival of colour with a musical depiction of the Corpus Christi Day procession in Seville.
