Writing about albums and EP’s on a weekly basis is a ‘feast to famine’ experience….some weeks you’re spoilt for choice with a bevy of quality material to talk about, other weeks you struggle to find anything that lights your fire. This week was definitely a ‘feast’ week with a good half-a-dozen releases that I wanted to feature, so the fact that the latest album from Bridie Jackson and The Arbour made it to the top of the pile shows how well it fared on the redwood-o-meter. Read full review.

The Devil Has The Best Tuna, 11 May 2014
Since winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition last year Newcastle quartet Bridie Jackson and the Arbour have become one of the Devil’s favourite bands. So it’ll come as no surprise that I love their new album New Skin, the follow up to their debut Bitter Lullabies. Having heard most of the songs on the album live a number of times over the past 12 months listening to them in album form is like reuniting with far flung friends. Read full review.

Noise and Sprarks, 14 April 2014
I’m going to admit it, I’m not the world’s biggest fan of vinyl. If I can’t carry it around in my pocket – or easily copy it to a digital format – then I’m probably not going to listen to it. However, I do love a well put together release – and, more importantly, independent record stores. So I’ll be sneaking out of Eastercon this Saturday 19th April for Record Store Day 2014 – probably to catch Bridie Jackson and the Arbour at Love Music‘s live band.
