Event Details

City Music Foundation returns to The Wallace Collection for our 4th annual Summer Residency (22nd – 26th July). Featuring six CMF Artists, 2019 sees the residency expanded beyond the popular free lunchtime recitals to include a children’s concert, a performance for dementia sufferers, and an evening concert centered around Schubert’s ‘Trout Quintet’ with guest performer Sholto Kynoch.

2018 CMF Artist Tom Millar (jazz piano) presents a rare solo recital, performing original compositions and jazz standards.

Tom Millar is a London-based pianist, composer and bandleader. His debut album, Unnatural Events, was launched in 2017 at Pizza Express Jazz Club (Soho) and was followed by a 20-date UK tour, supported by Arts Council England. As a sideman he has played for the opening of Quincy Jones’s jazz club in Dubai and toured in the UK and Europe. He has received an Emerging Excellence award from Help Musicians UK.

After reading Music at King’s College, Cambridge, Tom studied Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music, and with Django Bates in Switzerland.

“At its highpoint the performance reaches a poetic, pastoral grace.” (Kevin Le Gendre, Jazzwise)

“Tom’s music is full of strong melodies, quirky rhythmic hooks and unusual forms” (London Jazz News)
