Streetwise Opera’s new Little Opera Season features a new opera created with CMF Artists Bridie Jackson and The Arbour
Bridie Jackson and the Arbour are involved in a collaborative project with Streetwise Opera, the award-winning charity that uses music and opera to help homeless people move forward in their lives.
The River Keeper is the first of three 30-minute operas in the season and was composed by Bridie Jackson. This premieres as a double bill on Wednesday 10th December at Gateshead Old Town Hall and Tuesday 16th December at Middlesborough Town Hall, and will be accompanied by the band.
About the work, Bridie said:
‘I have admired the work Streetwise Opera do for a long time, so it’s a real honor to be asked to compose a new piece for this incredible group, whose fearless and committed working style is nothing short of inspirational. Musically, it’s been an exciting opportunity to work outside of my comfort zone, and I’m looking forward to being involved in performing the new piece in December.’
All of Streetwise’s opera productions feature performers who have experienced homelessness working with top professionals; each production has won wide critical acclaim and 4 and 5 star reviews in the national press.
